The deal marks a significant commercial milestone for Arevo as biological and nutrition-based seed technologies gain traction alongside traditional crop protection products.
Corteva backs arginine-based seed treatment
Corteva and Swedish nutrition company Arevo have announced a partnership centred on Arginex Soy, a seed-applied crop nutrition technology designed to improve soybean establishment, nutrient efficiency and crop resilience.
Under the agreement, Corteva will integrate Arginex Soy into its soybean seed treatment portfolio, providing growers with access to the technology through established commercial channels.
The partnership follows a multi-stage technical evaluation assessing agronomic performance, formulation stability and compatibility with Corteva’s existing seed treatment systems.
According to the companies, the assessment confirmed that Arginex Soy can deliver measurable crop performance benefits while fitting seamlessly into current seed treatment processes, helping lower barriers to adoption.
Boosting nodulation and nutrient use
Arginex Soy is an arginine-based seed treatment developed to strengthen root systems, increase nodulation and improve soybean performance.
The technology targets one of the crop’s key biological advantages: its ability to form a symbiotic relationship with nitrogen-fixing bacteria.
In soybeans, arginine stimulates the development of root hairs, which play an important role in nodule formation. These nodules provide sites where beneficial bacteria can establish and fix atmospheric nitrogen, helping strengthen root development and improve nutrient-use efficiency from the earliest stages of growth.
The companies believe the approach can help growers improve yields and crop resilience while supporting more sustainable production systems.
Validation from a global seed leader
For Arevo, the partnership represents an important endorsement of its technology platform.
“Rigorous evaluation has confirmed that Arginex Soy delivers the consistency and formulation stability required for Corteva’s seed applied technologies,” said Leonardo Costa, EMEA Seed Applied Technologies Leader at Corteva Agriscience.
“This enables seamless integration into existing systems and provides farmers with a practical solution to support early crop establishment and improve nutrient use efficiency from the start.”
Niklas Åström, chief executive officer of Arevo, described the agreement as a significant milestone for the company.
“Being selected following this level of technical evaluation is an important milestone for Arevo,” he said. “It confirms that Arginex can be integrated into established seed platforms.”
Biological momentum continues
For Corteva, the addition of Arginex Soy reflects a broader industry trend towards combining genetics, crop protection and biological inputs to optimise crop performance from planting onwards.
The deal also marks another step forward for Arevo, which AgNavigator recently profiled as part of the growing cohort of companies developing next-generation crop nutrition technologies centred on amino acids and plant physiology.
By securing a place within Corteva’s seed treatment offering, Arevo gains access to a major commercial platform capable of accelerating adoption among soybean growers, while Corteva adds a differentiated nutrition tool to its portfolio as demand grows for solutions that can improve nutrient efficiency and crop resilience.
