John Deere continues to roll out updates across its model year (MY) 2027 fleet of tractors and machines, with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) revealing several changes to its 8 Series tractors designed around improving the operator experience.
John Deere 8 Series tractors are a large-sized versatile tractor, which can be used for planting, tillage, pushing a grain cart, and more, Sarah Daniels, global product marketing manager for large tractors at John Deere, told AgNavigator.
“We call [the 8 Series] our Swiss Army knife, so it’s going to be a tractor that’s going to be pretty versatile in terms of horsepower ranges, so you’ll vary from a 250 all the way up through a 410. And then, just within this last year, we did add three new additional higher horsepower models that look maybe a little bit different in frame and style that go all the way up to the 540,” Daniels elaborated.
Similar to updates made to its mid-sized 6 Series tractors, John Deere is adding a number of comfort and customization options to the 8 Series tractors, Daniels explained. For instance, the 8 Series tractors will have three new transmission drive levers with CommandX, available in a base, plus, or pro option, allowing for increasing levels of customization.
Select 8R models will have Reactive Command Steering, which automatically return the steering wheel to the center with three customizable feedback settings, John Deere shared in a press release. John Deere is also adding a convenience display for HVAC, radio, and seat settings, quick access buttons, integrated wireless charging, seatback vents, and a door cinch to Series 8 tractors.
John Deere is continuing to bring together its various technologies in the MY27 8 Series tractors, including its G5 Plus display and Starfire 7500 Receiver, which is an essential component to John Deere’s precision ag capabilities, Daniels noted. Additionally, the 8 Series come with precision ag technologies like AutoTrace Implement Guidance, AutoPath, and AutoTrac Turn Automation, which automatically makes headland turns for an operator.
“John Deere is on this ever-evolving journey of autonomy and automation, and so these tractors are going to highlight all of those key pieces within the cab of each of those tractors as well, moving forward,” Daniels added.
John Deere offers an extended warranty three-year/1,500-hour limited warranty PowerGard for 8 Series 250 to 410 horsepower tractors in the U.S. with plans to extend into Canada. Other PowerGard length and options are available as well.
